The author analyzes eff ectiveness of gaming technologies for the formation of political culture of modern Russian youth, reveals the role of the educational system in cultivation of civic responsibility among young people. It is substantiated that the infl uence of a game on the model of political behavior of a young person depends on the type of game model used. Classifi cations of gaming practices are highlighted.

The article analyzes the essential content of the category “technology”, highlights the main approaches to its semantic content, and identifies its key characteristics. The paper substantiates possibility of using technologies to form political culture of young people.

In modern science, attempts to measure media literacy / media competence are made from time to time. However, those who try to do it usually employ different theoretical premises, interpret phenomenon under consideration in their own ways, and, as a result, use various criteria for evaluations. Based on the analysis of more than hundred most oft-quoted (both in foreign and Russian scholarship) definitions of media literacy, the author offers his own conception of the term and puts forward the way it can be measured.
