The Experience of the Empirical Research on Social Intolerance

The article is devoted to the problem of the empirical study of the phenomenon of social intolerance. The analysis of the results of sociological studies conducted in the USA and Western Europe in the second half of the XX – early XXI centuries is given. The relevant dimensions of tolerance are the subject of the ongoing debate. Scientists do not agree on the question of whether measuring tolerance in different ways is important for identifying the origin of tolerance.

The Problems of Functioning of the Public Service as a Social Institution in the Russian Federation

The article examines the main problems of such a social institution`s functioning in the Russian state as a public service. The particular attention is paid to the ethical principles of the state and municipal employees in the context of the administrative ethics. It is noted that one of the problems of the civil service as a social institution in the country is the lack of citizens` awareness of the civil servants` activities results as well as the excessive bureaucratization of the internal activities of public authorities in the country.

The need to study the social well-being of police officers is due to the high importance of this profession for protecting the rights and legitimate interests of the Russian population, and for ensuring public order. It examines the gender and settlement characteristics of the police officers ‘social well-being, which affect the police officers’ perception of their level of social protection, remuneration and bonuses, career prospects, satisfaction with housing conditions, relations with colleagues, friends, neighbors, and family life.

Basic Factors of Formation of Patriotic Mood at Young Generation in Modern Social Conditions

The article deals with the actual problems of Patriotic education of young people, the change of value orientations under the influence of external factors. The perspectives of the youth patriotism education development reveal the basic concepts of patriotism and the modern interpretation and the main factors in the Patriotic moods’ formation among the young generation under modern social conditions are highlighted.

Academic Mobility in the Countries-Participants of the EEU

The article examines the processes of academic mobility in the member countries of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU). The reasons for optimizing cooperation in the Eurasian space are considered, which are related to the importance of creating common standards in training specialists, the emergence of a competitive environment among the Universities and the formation of the unified base for the smooth entry and exit of teachers and students. It is also noted that the factor of intensification of academic mobility processes is the preservation of the position of the Russian language.

The article analyzes the possibilities of using mediation as a technology for improving public control. The subject of analysis, which is conducted within the framework of the theories of the social agent by P. Bourdieu, the group relations by J. Turner are the basic characteristics of the mediator as a subject of social management. The subjects of public control differ in structural characteristics and sometimes reflect opposing attitudes and motivation for participation in public control.

The article deals with the factors that destroy the social protection of labor in Russia and create social tension and antagonism between the government and the working people. Exploitation of employees is inevitable under any social order, regardless of who exploits them – the private owner or the state, but the main criterion of the socially-oriented state should be the protection of labor.

The methodological prospects of applying the subjective criterion for evaluating consumer opportunities are justified. In comparison with the objective monetary criterion, the subjective criterion reflects the social differentiation of rural families more accurately. The differences in the structure of everyday life between well-off and deprived rural households are analyzed. The wellbeing factors of rural households were determined.
